About this model

Model overview

What the BE1-30AG-L is

The BE1-30AG-L is as an all grill (specialty), Series 9, 30 inches wide, running on LPG. The BE1 prefix marks a Series 9 built-in grill, and the trailing L means it was built for propane. At 30 inches it is the narrowest of the Series 9 grills we list, so it often sits in a short island or a balcony counter where space around the firebox is tight.

Problems we see on a 30-inch propane built-in

  • Clicking from the igniter but no flame, or a flame that catches one side and not the other.
  • A burner that lights but sits low and yellow, which points at air or gas supply rather than the igniter.
  • Flame that goes out when the wind comes up the hill or across the roof terrace.
  • Surface rust and sticky knobs after a foggy winter, especially on grills with no cover.

A grill this size has a short run of burner, so one blocked port is felt immediately. Spider webs in the burner tube and wet electrodes are common causes we look at after rain or heavy fog. For the step-by-step version, read why a DCS grill will not ignite.

Installation details that change the diagnosis

A built-in sits in a cut-out, and the island must have openings that let gas escape and air move through. When those openings are closed off by tile, a bin or stored cushions, the grill can starve for air or hold trapped gas. Because the BE1-30AG-L runs on propane, we also look at the tank position, the hose, and the regulator, since a regulator that has been knocked or has sat outdoors for years can mimic a grill fault. Outdoor outlets for the igniter and any lights should be on a GFCI that has not tripped.

Checks you can do from the outside

  • Before anything else on a propane model, close the tank valve. Then open it slowly and see whether the flame returns on a cold relight with the lid open.
  • Look at the GFCI outlet and the household breaker if the ignition is silent.
  • Brush loose debris and spider material off the burner tops and clear the drip tray.
  • Write down what the grill does, when it started, and whether the tank was recently swapped.

Never light the grill with the lid closed, never hold a match to a burner that did not light, and do not open panels or loosen a gas fitting. If gas is ever in the air, walk away, touch no switches, and ring the gas utility or 911 from a safe distance.

Booking the repair

Quote the full model, BE1-30AG-L, when you request a visit; the label is usually under the control panel or around the firebox and drip-tray area. See BE1-36C-L if your grill is the wider cousin. If those checks leave the fault unsettled, request a visit through DCS outdoor grill repair. A technician diagnoses before repairing and writes up an estimate, and no work starts until you say yes. DCS outdoor grills lists where each label usually sits.
