Two cooking tools in one 30-inch Series 7 unit, sharing a propane supply.
It is a griddle and double side burner, Series 7, 30 inches, on LPG. One cabinet cut-out serves both tools, so a gas or ignition problem can affect the burner side, the griddle side, or both. Next to it in the lineup is the BGC132-BI-L, a smaller double side burner.
A griddle spreads heat across a plate, so complaints are uneven browning, a cold zone or slow heat-up. Residue and rust under the plate affect heat transfer, while the burner beneath may have a blocked port. Seasoned plates exposed to fog develop surface rust that can be cleaned, but a flame that is weak is a separate issue.
The double side burner side may fail to light, burn lopsided, or lose flame in a breeze. Simmer settings that go out show up first. If one burner works and the other does not, the cause is often local. See side burner will not light for a plain walk-through.
Like other outdoor units, this one needs a propane supply with a working regulator, a protected power point for ignition, and a clear space around it. Cabinet doors that block ventilation can cause lighting trouble. When mounted next to a grill, vibration and grease from the grill can reach the control side.
If gas can be smelled, get away from the unit, operate nothing electrical and call 911 or the gas utility once outside. Before anything else on a propane model, close the tank valve. Never light with a match near a burner that failed to ignite.
To get a technician out, go to DCS side burner and griddle repair. Findings and a written estimate come before any repair, and you decide whether to proceed. See DCS side burners and griddles for label spots.
Let the plate cool completely, scrape residue away from the burners rather than into them, and keep water from pooling where the flames sit. Soaking the cabinet floor does more harm than the grease did.
Sometimes, when the shared supply or ignition is involved. We test them separately.
No, the BFGC-30BGD-L is in Series 7.
A blocked port, weak ignition or limited gas flow on the cold side are the usual possibilities.
Moisture leads to surface rust on the plate and damp electrodes. Both can be addressed.
Typically on the unit’s frame or near the control area under the top.
