About this model

Model overview

The WD-27-SS-OD is a 27-inch outdoor warming drawer. It is an outdoor warming drawer and 27 inches wide. That width matters because it fits a particular cut-out in the island, and a replacement drawer is not interchangeable with a 30-inch one.

Typical situations

A drawer that used to keep plates hot now leaves them lukewarm, or the front panel feels warm but the interior does not. Others stick halfway, or the indicator comes on without any heat. Moisture and age play a part outdoors.

Our approach

  1. Verify power at the outlet and the breaker.
  2. Observe the controls and the indicator.
  3. Run the drawer and watch how it heats.
  4. Inspect the slides, the front seal and the surrounding cut-out.

This drawer has no code list to read.

Why the cut-out matters

A 27-inch drawer built into stone or tile leaves little margin. If the opening is tight, heat has nowhere to go, and long-term overheating of nearby wiring becomes a concern. During diagnosis we note the clearance and ventilation.

Owner checks

Clear everything out. Make sure no foil, tray or utensil is jammed under the drawer. Wipe the front. Leave the unit unplugged or breaker-off if you smell something burning. Never pry the front off.

Using the drawer sensibly

A warming drawer holds food warm; it does not cook or reheat from cold. If dishes come out cooler than they used to, that is a symptom worth recording with the date. Avoid overfilling, since stacked pans can press against the front and keep it from closing completely.

If the drawer is built into a bar with a stone top, be careful when sliding it out fully; the weight of a loaded pan on a worn slide can bend the track and turn a small complaint into a bigger one. Remove heavy items before testing.

Labels and links

Check behind the warming drawer front for the label, and use our model number guide if unsure. Similar units are the WD1-30-SSOD and the Professional-series WDVI30. The DCS warming drawer repair page and warming drawer guide describe the service.
