A conventional 24-inch dishwasher with a door rather than drawers, placed in the same family.
Unlike the DishDrawer models, the DW-24SS is a 24-inch dishwasher with a regular hinged door. We treat it as the legacy dishwasher in the family.
You can read how we work in DCS dishwasher repair and the model family in DCS dishwasher drawers.
A hinged door brings its own list of faults. The latch may not catch, the gasket may roll out of its groove, or a hinge spring may weaken so the door drops harder than it should. If the cycle never begins, the door switch is the first place a technician looks. Look at the door edges for stuck-on food that prevents a full close.
A visit sorts these into cleaning tasks and genuine parts failures. The post on a dishwasher not cleaning dishes describes the owner-level checks.
A built-in dishwasher is held in place under a counter with its water inlet and drain hose at the back. In many Bay Area kitchens the drain is joined to the disposal, and a knockout plug left in place after a disposal installation can stop drainage entirely. If you recently had work done under the sink, mention it. Our guide on a dishwasher not draining covers the sequence.
Make sure the supply valve is open and the breaker is on. Pull and rinse the filter, wipe the gasket, and look for something wedged in the lower spray arm. Do not slide the unit out, and do not use cleaners on a leaking machine.
Bring the model label details, usually printed inside the door edge. We diagnose, give you a written estimate, and carry out the repair only with your approval.
Parts, controls and codes for a hinged-door dishwasher are not interchangeable with those of drawer models, so the type matters. The DW-24SS stays in this family because it shares the same repair workflow: symptom, inspection of the water path, then the electrical side. Mention that the door is hinged when you call, and give us the number from the door edge so the visit starts with the correct information.

Door latch, door switch or power supply are the first suspects.
Usually yes, on the inside edge of the door.
