A discontinued 36-inch CDV2 gas cooktop set up for natural gas, repaired from its label.
Every part of CDV2-365-N tells us something. CDV2 is the series, 365 points to the 36″ width, and the trailing N marks natural gas. It is no longer sold new. The N matters most: a cooktop made for natural gas must not be run on propane without a proper conversion, and the reverse is equally true.
If a burner burns oddly with a tall, noisy flame, one reason can be that the cooktop is meeting the wrong gas pressure or orifice. A cooktop that has been moved, or one that came from another home, deserves a check on the fuel setup before anything else. Please tell us if it has ever been converted or relocated.
The flame-related items are discussed in our page about uneven flame on a cooktop.
Confirm the gas shutoff is open and the cooktop has electrical power for its igniters. Reseat the caps, dry them, and brush crumbs from the ports. Do not touch the regulator or any fitting beneath the counter.
If you smell gas, leave the kitchen, do not touch light switches or the appliance, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.
A natural gas cooktop in a Bay Area home draws from the building’s utility line, usually with a shutoff within reach under the counter or on the wall. In multi-unit buildings that valve may be shared, so locating it ahead of time speeds our work. Remodels sometimes leave the cooktop with a crowded cabinet below; clearing it helps. Winter rain and wet shoes tracked into the kitchen add moisture near the floor-level shutoff, so keep that area dry.
Bring the label details to us (finding the model number). We diagnose first, quote in writing and proceed only if you approve. Our cooktop repair page lays out the service, and the cooktops guide the lineup. The similar CDU-365 belongs to an earlier group.
It marks the natural gas version. A model made for natural gas should not be run on propane without a conversion done by a qualified person.
This cooktop is a 36″ size.
A lifting flame can come from high pressure, a wrong orifice for the fuel, or a draught. A technician checks the setup.
No. Conversion involves gas components and must be done and tested by a technician.
