A discontinued Professional V2 dual fuel range, repaired by model number rather than by guesswork.
RDV2-304 belongs to the Professional V2 series, in the RGV2/RDV2 family. The “RD” prefix marks a dual fuel range, so gas feeds the burners and electricity drives the oven. The range is no longer sold new, which is why owners tend to call us when something wears out and a replacement is not an easy swap.
Parts and control layouts change between generations of the same brand, and the V2 mark helps us pick the right path. Quoting only “DCS dual fuel range” can lead to the wrong component. With RDV2-304 on the label we start from the correct family of burners, igniters and oven parts.
The second and third items often get an answer in our article on oven temperature that is off. For burners, see uneven burner flame, which explains how port debris changes the flame.
Reset the range once by switching its breaker off, waiting a short moment, and switching it back on. Confirm the gas valve is open. Clean burner caps and heads that are cool and dry. If a burner will not light, leave it off; do not use a match.
If you smell gas, leave the kitchen, do not touch light switches or the appliance, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.
A heavy dual fuel range needs a level floor, a properly routed gas line and an outlet that matches its electrical requirements. In older San Francisco buildings the gas shutoff may sit in a cabinet or crawl space, so identify it before our visit. Ventilation above the range also affects how flames behave, because a strong hood can pull burner flames sideways.
Photograph the label (finding the model number) and describe the symptom. We diagnose, quote in writing, and repair only after you agree. Read more on DCS range repair or browse the DCS ranges guide. The RGCV2-305 is the gas-only member of the same V2 line.
In the Professional V2 line, RDV2 marks a dual fuel range and RGV2 marks an all-gas one. The first letters after R tell us which fuels the range uses.
Yes, it is no longer sold new. We still diagnose and repair installed ranges.
Slow heating can come from a weak element, a sensor reporting the wrong temperature, or a door that does not seal. A technician checks each in turn.
One controlled reset at the breaker is a reasonable check. If the problem returns straight away, stop and book a visit rather than repeating it.
